Senior Instructor Sensei V H Keens : 6th Dan

Sensei V H Keens

I started training back in the early 1960's when I was in my early twenties.  The Martial Arts of any kind were much of a mystery. There were some Judo Clubs and a few Karate Clubs, mainly studying the systems of Shoto-Kan and Shoto-Ryu. The different systems we have today were mostly non existent.
As a young man, I played football, went shooting etc. the only thing I took seriously was Weight lifting. This I did very well at, making the West of England Champion for two years running under 21's; weighing in at ten and a half stone.
At the age of 26, I had the chance to learn Karate, so went along to a local club.  There I studied the system of Shoto-Kan for around two years,  then moved on to learn the Wado-Ryu system, with another group and I haven't looked back.
I am now 69 years old and still going strong!
I have been involved with Karate for over 40 years.  In the time, I have met many interesting people, not all involved with the martial arts, so, I have some interesting and amusing stories to tell.
I have gained much experience from Top Instructors, all, with something different to offer.
Karate is a life time study, we are learning all the time.
You are never too old to learn! This is why the Wado-Ryu system is so favourable to all, Young and the more Mature. Its training methods and knowledge of body movements is quite unique.
I suppose I could say that I am a walking example of this!
Studying the Martial Arts is an enlightening vocation, there is no other lifetime equal.  It will test your character to its limits!
